Abstract

This work aims to present the concepts of the state of exception and authoritarian statism in the work of Nicos Poulantzas, in which he establishes differentiations not only between the two concepts, but also internally within the concept of the state of exception when analyzing the differences between military dictatorships and fascist regimes. The main focus will be on his three works "Fascism and Dictatorships," "The Crisis of Dictatorships," and "The State, Power, Socialism." In this way, we will see that Poulantzas' contribution on fascism remains relevant for understanding the emergence of neo-fascism, as well as his contribution on new forms of control and repression by the democratic rule of law, which reproduces the concept of authoritarian statism in its practices.
