Significance and pathways of promoting artificial intelligence development cooperation between China and other Global South countries

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has been profoundly transforming the way human beings produce and live. However, its development is affected by deep dispa- rities. Many countries in the Global South, due to limitations in technology, capital, and human and material resources, lag far behind developed coun- tries in AI development. This essay aims to identify and analyze a set of mul- ti-level and sustainable mechanisms of AI cooperation, under a more open and inclusive concept, in order to expand cooperation between China and the Global South, enhance technological capacity, and overcome the barriers im- posed by developed countries. The cooperative approach removes obstacles to development by building collective trust in technology and promotes the co- existence of civilizations through digital inclusion, representing a substantial step toward “a digital community with a shared future”.
