Abstract

The aim of the article is to analyze the June 2013 protests in Brazil from the perspec- tive that they constituted a hybrid warfare operation, more precisely, a color revolu- tion. It has three specific aims. The first is to discuss the geopolitical context in which the protests took place. The second, defining hybrid warfare and color revolutions, addressing the theoretical and historical foundations that contributed to the elabo- ration of this modality of operation. The third, analyzing the events of June 2013 with an emphasis on the work of some ideological apparatuses of the Brazilian bour- geoisie and imperialism, considering the accumulated work and the work performed when the demonstrations increased in proportion. Besides the introduction and the concluding remarks, this article is divided into three parts, each dedicated to one of the specific purposes. The conclusion is that the way in which the protests were transformed resulted from the fact that sectors of the Brazilian right acted in a typical coordination of a color revolution.
