The article examines the Brazilian political process from 1994 to 2022. His most general thesis is that this process, in the current economic and social conditions, is the result of the conflict between classes and class fractions active in Brazilian politics. It also considers, in the analysis of this political process, the feminist, black and LGBT movements as well as the strong conservative reaction that these movements gave rise to. It examines the economic, social, foreign and citizenship policies adopted by the governments in this period. It characterizes such governments using the concepts of neoliberalism (FHC governments), neodevelopmentalism (Lula and Dilma governments) and neofascism (Bolsonaro government). A fundamental issue is the political difficulty in expanding democracy and social rights in Brazil.
